Choose the Reading Roots program that best fits your learner.
Reading Roots Literacy has four targeted programs to ensure students of any age or level can quickly learn to read and write:
A perfect beginning for children in Kindergarten or Grade One. In a carefully sequenced program children learn the sounds of the letters. After learning five letters we can start making three letter words. As students advance through the alphabet we continue to make new words and read sentences. We build the foundation for reading. Interactive games and magnetic boards (sold separately) make learning fun. Levelled storybooks accompany the program. Over 100 videos will guide the teachers and students through the lessons.
Includes lesson plans and guide for teachers to follow each week, as well as the handouts for each lesson for students.
Fun games and activities to reinforce learning for students. Including word cards, concentration games, alphabet posters and more.
Over 100 videos to take teachers and students step-by-step through the program. Helpful for modelling for new or EAL teachers.
One colourful book/storyboard for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet. Students read short predictable sentences with a few sight words.
Features an overview, weekly plan, daily guide, comprehension questions, word chains, creative writing, when to use videos and storybooks/boards.
Each 12-page reader has delightful stories that can function as a colouring book. Books have a controlled vocabulary, with 15 new words each reader.
Fun activities for students to build knowledge, like grapheme cards, concentration games, word flip games, and word-picture matching
Students personally work through cut & paste activities, phonics practice, spelling, comprehension exercises, creative writing, and assessments
Over 200 videos to take teachers and students step-by-step through the program. Helpful for modelling for new or EAL teachers.
Help students practice reading 100 most high frequency words and know them as sight words. They match sight words introduced in the readers.
A unique and fast-paced program to follow the Sprouts Program. Using a systematic, explicit phonics method students learn the 60 most common two letter graphemes such as th, ow, ee, igh. Now they can sound almost every word at a Grade One or Two level. Students learn to read and spell the 100 most common words. They begin creative writing. Interactive games make learning fun. They use magnetic boards (sold separately) to make words. To go with the program are levelled storybooks and over 200 videos to guide teachers and students through the lessons.
For ages 8+, especially English as an Additional Language and unique learners. It is a condensed version of the Sprouts and Roots Programs. For EAL learners, the focus is pronunciation. The 49 story books and over 300 hundred videos from both the Sprouts and Roots Programs help with concepts and pronunciation. Back by popular demand, this is where it all started. The Joe and Joan program was created as Jenny needed materials for teaching her unique and fast paced explicit, systematic phonics program. Children love the stories in the five readers about the adventures of Joe and Joan and their dog Mokey. In the manual Jenny shared her proven methods and strategies. Teachers learn all about classroom management in the early grades, including setting up creative learning centres. Teachers love the lesson time lines and plans at the back of each reader.
