After completion of the Reading Sprouts program, students will:

  • know the names and the sounds of the 26 letters of the alphabet.
  • correctly form the letters (without lines).
  • orally blend and segment three letter words (consonant-vowel-consonant).
  • read and spell three letter words (consonant-vowel-consonant).

Reading Sprouts is a prerequisite for Reading Roots

After completion of the Reading Roots program, students will:

  • read 100 common words as sight words.
  • spell correctly 80 of these common words.
  • know the sounds of 60 graphemes.
  • read the key words for the 60 graphemes.
  • blend and segment words with adjacent consonants.
  • sound out words and use other strategies as needed.
  • print in lines, using correct letter formation.
  • write in creative writing book.
  • correctly answer comprehension questions.

  • suitable for Grade 1 & 2 and remedially for Grade 3
  • suitable for ESL and special needs students
  • available for single use, or as black line masters for classroom use
